Graduate Degree Programs
Graduate study in Agricultural and Applied Economics offers programs leading to a (1) Master of Science in Agricultural and Applied Economics with both thesis and non-thesis options, (2) Master of Agribusiness, (3) Master of Agriculture in Agricultural Business Management, (4) Master of Agriculture @ a Distance, (5) joint Master of Science and Doctor of Jurisprudence in cooperation with the Law School and (6) Doctor of Philosophy in Agricultural and Applied Economics. The department also participates in an M.B.A. program in Agricultural Business Management from the College of Business Administration.
In the Doctor of Philosophy in Agricultural and Applied Economics program, graduate students may select a minor of their choice in areas such as Business Administration, Finance, Mathematics, Public Administration, Statistics, Sociology, or other possible areas of study.
Students may select a minor in Personal Financial Planning, a joint Ph.D. program between the Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics and the Division of Personal Financial Planning. Completion of the Doctoral program with a minor in Personal Financial Planning qualifies graduates to take a test administered by the Certified Financial Planning Board of Standards to become Certified Financial Planners. Texas Tech University is the only program in the nation where the combination of a Ph.D. in Agricultural and Applied Economics and Personal Financial Planning is available.
All graduate programs in Agricultural and Applied Economics are an integral part of the teaching and research components of the department.
